New York Beef Council Seeking Executive Director

Rome, NY (August 2022) – The New York Beef Council (NYBC), is seeking to hire an Executive Director responsible for managing and implementing Beef Checkoff-funded promotion programs to consumers and producer sectors across New York State.   

The Executive Director is the chief administrative officer of the New York Beef Council. Under the direction of the Chairman of the Board, the ED is responsible for all operational and budgetary functions of the organization; develops, implements, and evaluates programs; implements Council policies; employs, trains and evaluates staff; and effectively communicates to those audiences who have a direct impact upon the goals and objectives of the Council.  Accomplishes other tasks as may be assigned by the Board of Directors.

About the Beef Checkoff: The Beef Checkoff Program was established as part of the 1985 Farm Bill. The Checkoff assesses $1 per head on the sale of live domestic and imported cattle, in addition to a comparable assessment on imported beef and beef products. States may retain up to 50 cents on the dollar and forward the other 50 cents per head to the Cattlemen's Beef Promotion and Research Board, which administers the national checkoff program, subject to USDA approval.
