BEST NY STEAK NAMED!

J. O'Toole | July 11, 2019

New York Beef Council once again asked a simple question in June, “Who has the ‘Best NY Steak”’?  After many nominations, votes and debate this question has been answered through the taste buds of consumers and the final tasting efforts of four judges from across the state.

The 2019 “Best NY Steak” Winner is - Wampsville’s Madison Bistro, with their “NY Strip Steak with Maple Bacon Bourbon Butter!  Say that fast three times!!   New York Beef Council launched for the first time the “Best NY Steak” Contest this June during “Steak Month” by soliciting on-line nominations from NY consumers as to what restaurant served the best steaks.  The Top 10 nominated steaks were identified and put to a vote vying for “People’s Choice” honors, which was won by Number 5 Steakhouse in Binghamton, NY.  All Top 10 restaurants were invited to cook off their steak at Onondaga Community College on Monday, July 8th ! Five of the ten restaurants showed up and put their steaks on the line, from Filets to a 28oz Tomahawk Ribeye!   The Madison Bistro’s Victor Ramirez, humbled by the honor gave credit to his local farmer for the steak and sous chef for the mouth-watering butter topping!   Plaque presentation, Facebook Live and congratulations will be given to owners Victor and his wife Lisa in the upcoming weeks!

Congratulations also go out to all the Top 10 and the other Top 3 finishers in the competition.:
