Utica, NY (June 2024) – The New York Beef Council is thrilled to announce the return of the New York Beef Passport for its second annual year. This year’s program has expanded to include 45 locations, featuring not only restaurants but also USDA-inspected retail beef locations, offering even more opportunities for beef enthusiasts to explore and enjoy. Excitingly, the top ten winners from our Best NY Burger competition are also featured locations on the passport, showcasing the finest beef burgers in the state.
The New York Beef Passport is a unique culinary experience that encourages participants to taste some of the best beef dishes and products from across New York State. The program aims to support local businesses and beef producers while rewarding participants with exciting prizes.
“The New York Beef Passport program encourages people to visit the featured locations where they can purchase beef items and earn points toward prizes offered by the New York Beef Council,” said Chrissy Claudio, Director of Producer Communications and Consumer Engagement for the New York Beef Council. “We are excited to expand the program this year to include USDA-inspected retail beef locations, giving participants even more ways to enjoy and support New York’s vibrant beef industry.”
Consumers are encouraged to sign up for the NY Beef Passport, dine on delicious beef dishes, and support the New York beef industry. By visiting participating locations, passport holders can order beef menu items or purchase beef products, earn stamps, and be entered to win prizes. This year, the program offers a range of rewards, from collectible t-shirts to grand prize beef bundle giveaways.
Participants can collect digital stamps when they check in at each location visited, qualifying them for special discounts and exclusive offers. About the Beef Checkoff: The Beef Checkoff was established as part of the 1985 Farm Bill. The Checkoff assesses $1 per head on the sale of live domestic and imported cattle and a comparable assessment on imported beef and beef products. States may retain up to 50 cents of the dollar and forward the other 50 cents per head to the Cattlemen's Beef Promotion and Research Board, which administers the national checkoff program, subject to USDA approval.
About the New York Beef Council: The New York Beef Council is funded by the $1-per-head National Beef Checkoff Program. With these Beef Checkoff dollars, the New York Beef Council promotes the consumption and education of beef among consumers. This is accomplished through several programs and marketing initiatives, such as sponsored content with social influencers, paid media advertising, social media content, and partnerships with various partners both in and outside New York.
