Fire Creek Farm, located in Livonia, New York, is owned and operated by Jake and Kylie Stevens.
When they started the farm, their goal was simple: to bring fresh, local products to their community—and they’ve done just that. Today, they raise beef, pork, and chicken throughout the year, along with turkeys just in time for Thanksgiving. In addition to livestock and cash crops like hay, corn, soybeans, and wheat, they also grow 10 to 15 acres of produce annually, which they sell directly at farmers markets and through their farm store.
The Stevens have built a diverse operation that allows them to weather seasonal highs and lows, all while remaining deeply committed to their land and their neighbors. Their cattle are often grazed on cover crops, which not only provides high-quality feed but also improves soil structure and fertility—part of their long-term focus on regenerative practices.
“To us, sustainability means taking from the soil—but also giving back to it,” says Kylie. “We try to work with the land, not against it, so it continues to thrive for the future.”
Beyond growing food, they are passionate about reconnecting people to where that food comes from. Using social media and attending local farmers markets, they’ve created transparent, real-time connections with consumers. That commitment inspired them to open the Fire Creek Farm Store, giving customers direct access to their meats, produce, and other locally produced goods.
“There’s something special about seeing someone at the store or in town and knowing you helped put food on their table,” says Jake. “That’s the kind of connection we’re proud of.” For the Stevens family, farming is more than a business—it’s a way to support their community, steward the land, and foster real relationships with the people they feed. Cows are bred and calves are born and raised every year on cow-calf farms and ranches, spending time grazing on grass pastures within sight of their mothers.
From start to finish animals are raised on this farm to be marketed directly to consumers through either freezer trade, farmers' markets, or at local restaurants. Farms direct marketing incorporate all steps in the beef life cycle including cow/calf, backgrounding, and finishing.
