Albany, NY (May 2026)– The title of Best NY Burger 2026 has been awarded to Ben’s Fresh in Port Jervis, New York, for their bold and indulgent Empire State of Prime Burger—a standout entry in the 10th Annual Best NY Burger Competition hosted by the New York Beef Council.
The Empire State of Prime Burger is a full-on flavor experience, crafted with premium beef and topped with 5-year-aged Grand Reserve cheddar, espresso-bourbon bacon jam, cherry pepper relish, and maple aioli, all served on a soft pretzel bun. The burger impressed judges with its balance of bold flavors, quality ingredients, and overall eating experience, earning top marks in this year’s competition.
Again this year, anonymous judges traveled across the state to evaluate the Top Ten finalist burgers using a standardized scoring process. While public nominations and voting helped identify the Top Ten finalists, the final decision was made solely by the panel of anonymous judges through in-person evaluations. The New York Beef Council extends its sincere appreciation to this year’s judges for their commitment to maintaining the integrity, fairness, and consistency of the competition.
While Ben’s Fresh celebrates this well-earned recognition, commendations go to all Top Ten restaurants for their exceptional entries. Each burger reflected the creativity, craftsmanship, and culinary pride found across New York State. These establishments continue to showcase the versatility and quality of beef while serving as ambassadors for New York’s thriving food and agriculture community.
The winner was officially announced during the New York Beef Council’s May Beef Month Proclamation event at the New York State Capitol in Albany—an annual celebration recognizing the people, products, and partnerships that strengthen New York’s beef industry.
