“Recognizing the dedication of New York’s beef producers and the strength of the state’s agricultural community”

Albany, NY (May 2025) - The New York Beef Council (NYBC) proudly invites New Yorkers to join in recognizing May as Beef Month, a time to honor the farmers and ranchers who feed our communities and care for the land across generations. This annual observance celebrates the commitment of beef producers across the state and underscores the importance of beef to New York’s agricultural economy and culinary culture.

To commemorate the occasion, NYBC and decision makers hosted a Beef Month Celebration at the New York State Capitol in Albany on May 12th. The day offered a meaningful platform for dialogue about the value of beef and agriculture in New York. “Behind every cut of beef is a network of passionate people—farmers, ranchers, veterinarians, feed suppliers, processors, and small business owners—working together to bring safe, high-quality beef to your table,” stated NYBC Executive Director, Ashley Scoones.

The celebration reception showcased Beef through hors d’oeuvres and provided an opportunity for producers to share their stories in an engaging setting. The day also included the presentation of a formal resolution officially declaring May as Beef Month in New York State by Assemblywoman Carrie Woerner and a press conference that highlighted the many reasons to shine a spotlight on the beef industry.

Assemblywoman Carrie Woerner said, “To celebrate May as Beef Month is to celebrate our states beef producers and the significant impact agriculture has on our economy. It’s also a time to honor the farmers and ranchers who feed our communities ad care for the land across generations.”

State Agriculture Commissioner Richard A. Ball said, “I’m proud to help kick off Beef Month today and honor our many excellent farming families that produce a variety of versatile and wholesome beef choices for our tables. Beef is a staple at our world class steakhouses, restaurants, and retail establishments here in New York State, and is an important part of our agricultural economy. I encourage everyone to choose New York beef this month and all year round!”

Erin Perkins, co-owner of Easton Station Farms said, “… [beef] advocacy matters. Consumers have more questions than ever about where their food comes from. As Trailblazers, it’s our job to answer those questions with honesty and pride—whether it’s at a town hall, on social media, or over a backyard fence.”
