Utica, NY (February 2024) –The New York Beef Council (NYBC) is eager to announce its continued partnership with the Build Your Base program, providing comprehensive sports nutrition support to athletes. The program equips athletes with the latest science and evidence-based strategies for utilizing protein to enhance muscle growth and facilitate recovery, prioritizing beef as a premier protein.
In the recently concluded fall sports season, four high schools actively participated in the Build Your Base program, engaging with football, girls' field hockey, and girls' soccer teams. Athletes from these schools received valuable resources and materials aimed at preparing them and their families for a successful sports season.
As part of the initiative, each athletic program was supplied with beef jerky to aid in post-practice or post-game recovery. Coaches were provided with a wealth of nutrition materials and a designated "Coaches Corner" email, offering quick nutrition tips that could be easily shared with their athletes.
The results were outstanding, with numerous success stories emerging from the program. A standout achievement from the "Wolverines” Football team at Waverly High School clinching the NYSPHSAA 2023 Championship. The NYBC extends heartfelt congratulations to all others involved in this year’s Build Your Base Program, at East Syracuse Minoa High School, Pioneer High School, and Susan Wagner High School, for their notable achievements this season.
In regards to his involvement with the Build Your Base Program, Coach Duprey, Football Coach for Pioneer HS, states “The football program LOVED the jerky and all the important nutritional information, especially pre and post-game nutrition tips”
Looking ahead, the New York Beef Council eagerly anticipates the upcoming Spring Sports Season and is committed to continuing its support for the development and success of student-athletes across the region.
