BEST BEEF TAKEOUT Competition Launched

Best NY BEEF TAKEOUT Contest 2020 NYS Restaurants have beef forced to continue to create “Curb Appeal” for their customers through this COVID-19 Pandemic, with a “Take-Out Only” protocol.   NYBC wants to recognize this “to go only” effort by focusing on Beef Takeout to bring “high-fives” and “kudos” to restaurants and diners that hung in there and continued to create “Crave Appeal” for their customers. Because of this challenging effort on behalf of restaurants, NYBC has created a “BEST NY BEEF TAKEOUT” Contest starting June 1st.    

From June 1 through 12th , NYBC wants to encourage “take-out” consumers to  nominate their Favorite BEEF Take-out food item (burgers, brisket, steak, beef tacos, gyros, beef stir fry etc.) from their Favorite restaurant or diner!  Who has the best BEEF?

*June is Steakhouse Month. NYBC would normally launch their “Best NY Steakhouse” but due to COVID-19 circumstances thought it would be beneficial to focus on all the hard work from our NY restaurants whose only choice to feed their customers was through take-out or to-go!    

Contest Description: People love beef! The New York Beef Council is seeking The “Best NY BEEF TAKEOUT”.  The “Best NY BEEF TAKEOUT” contest is designed to seek out and promote BEEF “to go” prepared in New York State restaurants. Fueled by the power of social media, Facebook users across the state, targeted through geographical advertising, are encouraged to submit nominations of a traditional, multi-layer or out-of-the-box, beef-centric beefy entrees they’ve enjoyed while dining via “Take-Out or To-Go” in New York during COVID-19.     

After an approximate two-week nomination portion of the contest (hosted on, the top 10 vote receiving restaurants will be notified to have them accept their nominations and provide NYBC with a printready hi-res photo of their top nominated beef item. We will then host the Top 10 selected beef item photos on the NYBC’s Facebook page and contest website. NYBC will tag the restaurants and encourage voting for the “Final 4 / People’s Choice” via the contest link.  The vote winning beef item will be considered the “People’s Choice Burger”.  All Top 10 restaurants will receive a Facebook Live opportunity during the final voting phase of the competition with the “People’s Choice and Final 4” receiving an additional Facebook Live after the competition.  

NYBC will work with the Top 10 finalists to create a post of the restaurant and nominated beef item to be featured on social media as part of the promotion.    

NYBC will provide a statewide press release, plaque presentation at the restaurant after the contest and winner will be featured in NY’s cattleman’s magazine and Ag Media trades.  Facebook Lives for the Top 3 finishers and the “People’s Choice” will be scheduled after the competition.

June 1–11: Call for Nominations of Restaurants 

June 12 - 16: Call Restaurants / Photo Retrieval 

June 18: Top 10 Announced! (Top 10 voting is open through June 28 for “People’s Choice/ Final 4”) 

June 30: People’s Choice/Final 4 Announced (PC/graphic, press release, restaurant notified.
